New ways to diagnose the intestine (M2-PK test)

In contrast to the previously recommended Hemoccult test, the immunological stool test detects even minute amounts of human blood in the stool and no longer gives false results due to the presence of vitamin C or animal blood. The patient does not have to follow a diet before the test and the higher accuracy prevents unnecessary colonoscopy. Since the test only responds if the evtl.Darmpolyp or intestinal tumor is bleeding, other tests z. Z., which provide for the presence of larger intestinal polyps or colon cancer by detecting certain enzymes that are released into the stool by these changes. Combining these two stool tests can then detect both bleeding and non-bleeding intestinal polyps or colon tumors. This test - the so-called, M2-PK test - but is still no cash balance.

Both tests do not replace the colonoscopy! At pos. The colonoscopy must be used to localize the process, to clarify the question of benign / malignant as well as possibly removal of polyps (precursors of colon cancer!) And thus to prevent the development of colorectal cancer. In addition, the colonoscopy also detects and removes all the smaller precancerous lesions that do not (yet) respond to the test.
